Dialogue session to combat toxic masculinity and promote gender equality

Engaging boys and girls in the school milieu in the North West Region to promote gender equality is our focus as MenEngage Cameroon, network members (#SonkeGenderJustice, #ReachOut, #MOHCAM, #WESAD and #DHO).

Our next dialogue session to combat toxic masculinity and promote gender equality was highly participatory at GBHS Bamendankwe. Participating students saw the need to love and be loved as well as they learned to practice empathy towards one another and to promote gender equality and reduce patriarchal constituted norms in the school environment.

As students living in conflict, they learned some gender values and some basic prerequisite to handling roles and responsibilities at home and at school. They were encouraged to use nonviolent measures and amicable ways to solve misunderstanding rather than being hostile towards one another.

The session ended with a lot of appreciation from the students.
We wish to heartily appreciate the Principal and staff of GBHS Bamendakwe for the great collaboration and opportunity given to the team to empower the boys and girls. We remain grateful.

Thank you @Sonke Gender Justice through the SIDA grant for funding this activity and to @MenEngage Cameroon and @Reach Out for making this possible.
