Awareness Raising and Sensitization of Young Men and Displaced Women on the Available Community Services (Babadjou )

Internally Displaced Persons have become more vulnerable in host communities because of the lack of information on the available financial and community services available in the municipal council areas where they live. The effect of the ongoing conflicts in the communities in the North West and South West has displaced thousands of people. They remain in poverty with very low standards of living. This has caused the IDPs to develop low self-esteem, they are psychologically defeated. Most of them are unemployed. This has also caused a lot of tension and they are engaged in many conflicts with host community members and other Internally displaced persons. So there is a need to educate them on wealth creation.

MOHCAM and her partner, #OIM, #UNESCO with the support of the #PBF are carrying out an Awareness Raising and Sensitization of Young Men and Displaced Women on the Available Community Services in the Municipality of Babadjou West Region.

The sensitization campaign is carried out in collaboration with the Babadjou Council. Over 105 internally displaced young men and women were trained and informed on the existing services that MOHCAM had mapped out. The participants were also drilled on the early warning signs of violence and how to communicate with other members of the community. They were educated on building tolerance, anger management, forgiveness, honesty, inclusion, collaboration and the importance of being at peace with each other. They encourage to avoid jealousy and envy to promote social cohesion.

The participants were also distributed flyers carrying the mapped and different services offered with available job opportunities in the municipality of Babadjou. We ended the workshop and sensitization campaign by encouraging them to use the opportunity.
MOHCAM donated 12 bags of Rice and two cartons of Savons to the IDPs for their Christmas celebration. We are giving hope to the hopeless.
