MOHCAM and APDEL training on income generating activities and agricultural activities in Bamenda I, II and III
With the impact of the ongoing crisis affecting the North West and South West Regions. Internally displaced women and young persons have developed survival strategies such as sex-for-money, early and forced marriage, babysitting, lack for financial education for children and the lack of food items. As a result, children and families are exposed to gender-based violence (GBV), early pregnancies, and high drop out of school. The security crisis has also had an impact on the social assets of IDPs. Only 21.4% of them belong to social groups such as savings groups and village development associations.
In light of the above analyses Mother of Hope Cameroon (MOHCAM), and its partners the Association for the Promotion of Local Development (APDEL) and the Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa (IHRDA) with financial assistance from the European Union, empowered 22 Internally Displaced Persons and vulnerable households with a training on income generating activities and agricultural activities in Bamenda I, II and III on the 14 and 15th of March 2023. The objective of the training was to strengthen the capacities of participants on the management of income generating activities, food crop production and the marketing of the resulting products and development of business plans.
In strengthen the capacities of internally displaced populations in the North West and West regions on social cohesion and building resilience communities. One of the major pillars of the #ripdiproject is the empowerment of 365 IDP and host households, in order to strengthen their economic capital; and thus facilitate their integration into the host communities.
